How to Get Baby to Sleep Alone with "Cry It Out" Method

Hallo Female - It is time for your little baby to sleep alone in his room. If you have trouble doing it, let's follow the method of "Cry It Out" (CIO) below.

Hearing its name, maybe you think this method is done by leaving the baby crying alone in his room until he is tired and then fall asleep himself.

"Cry It Out" method  only refers to the training approach that let the baby cry to sleep in a certain time period (usually a very short time).

In the book belongs to a sleep expert Richard Ferber, Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems, disclosed method crying "while" this is not a problem and very well applied to the baby.

Pediatrician Marc Weissbluth, author of Healthy Sleep Habits popular, Happy Child, also said the same thing that crying can help some children develop healthy sleep habits.

When is baby ready? 

Before you begin, note physically and emotionally when your baby is ready to sleep alone at night. After that, perform the steps below.

First, put the baby in his crib when he is sleepy.

Second, turn off the lights and leave the baby in his own room without forgetting say goodnight. If he cries, let stand for a few minutes.

Third, go back to the room no more than one or two minutes just patting and assured him that he would be fine. Keep your voice remained calm when leaving. Leave again while he is still awake, even if he's crying.

Fourth, do the second and third but with intervals of longer duration than the first. This may happen several times until the child completely falls asleep.

Fifth, in most cases, according to Ferber, your baby is going to be able to sleep alone at the third or fourth night or longest in a week.

Time Inteval 

The length of the interval that you need when leaving the baby to sleep alone at night should:

First night: The first interval is three minutes, the second interval is five minutes, then ten minutes for the third interval.

Second night: Five minutes, ten minutes, then 12 minutes.

The next night: Make longer intervals at each subsequent night.

Keep in mind, this time interval is not mandatory. You can change it according to the time which makes you comfortable.
