Hallo Female - Weight training and cardio exercises are two different but both are equally beneficial for the body, good for maintaining fitness or lose weight. But if you do both in one session, which should be done first?
According to sports psychologist from the United States, Marta Montenegro, the most appropriate thing to do first is weight training. Weight training is also intended form of strength training, including push-ups, squats, and other movements that use your own body weight.
"When the goal for slimming and body shaping, weight training should be done first before cardio," she said.
Montenegro explained, weight training will enhance the anaerobic energy system of the body, so when doing cardio exercises like running on a treadmill or cycling, your body will burn more fat and the body's aerobic system became more active as well.
"This means more calories are burned, not only during training, but also afterwards," she explained.
In addition, according to Montenegro, if doing cardio before weights, the body is usually tired and weak. So the results of weight training would not be optimal.
