Umami Taste Can Help Reduce Appetite

Hallo Female - Sweet, sour, salty, and bitter are the most common flavors perceived by the tongue. Have you ever heard the term of umami? Apparently there is one flavor that can be tasted by the tongue, which we are familiar with savory or umami taste.

The umami taste are generally obtained from the addition of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in food, to increase appetite. However, according to a recent study published in the American Journal of Nutrition, umami in MSG can also make full, so it makes you eat less and can help the diet.

This study was conducted on 26 participants, they were given two cups of soup low calorie or high calorie, high carbohydrate, and high protein. Participants were divided into two groups. In the first group, they have to spend soups containing MSG and enzymes. The second group, are required to eat soup without enzymes.

All soups are consumed after breakfast and before lunch, for four consecutive days. The result, the researchers found that the group of respondents who eat foods with added MSG and enzymes, eat less than those who did not use MSG-enzyme.

But in its development, excessive use of MSG in cooking gives a high risk to health.

The purpose of this study is to prove whether a umami taste to lose weight, or not. Some of them can be found in the broth, clams, shrimp, fish sauce, soy sauce, seaweed, tomatoes, garlic, cheese, milk, mushrooms, and shrimp paste.
